Cuarcao-First day

(The view from the pourch.)

Wow, Wow, Wow. That is all I can say about the beauty here! It is fun to just sit on the pourch and stare out at the blue ocean, the green hills, and the beach. It has been very sunny and the clouds are just perfect balls of white!

(My breakfast at the airport yesterday)

I will say it is humid though! Very humid. I stepped of the plane at 9 at night and imidently felt the humidy cling to me. It is also very warm. VERY warm. It is so weird to just have come from a place that is having 40 degree weather and rain all the time, to warm bright and sunny beaches. But I like it!

First of all I should tell you how I came to Curaco. We have friends that lived down the street from us in TX, that I got very close too. They found out they were moving to Curacao for a year. I got invited to come visit them sometime! They came back about a month for Thanksgiving, and I ended up going back with them, the 28th of Nov! I am so blessed, I get so many chances to explore this beauitful world God has given us.

(the view from the pourch, and the apartments)

I love adventures, exploring wierd places, and seeing life from other people's points of view. So this was quite the chance to do just that!
So, I met up with the firends in the Miami airport, and the second flight went well. It was only about 2 hours and 40 mins. I love flying, so I was wishing that it had been longer, but when I was on the plane I was so excited to get here, I was just wanting the flight to end!
Someone picked us up from the airport, and we headed to the apartment. I love it. Even though it is small, and the washer takes 4 hours becuae it is SO water efficent, it is beautiful. The view from the pourch is just to die for! We get up and go sit on the pourch to eat our breakfast, it's just like a dream.

Yesterday morning, we got to sleep in a bit. When we finally woke up we scronged for breakfast (they had almost no food, because they had been gone for so long.) And then me and one of thier children, walked down to the beach. There is a bunch of beahces around here, but their favoirte is a private beach owned by the Marriot hotel. They have a membership to it, and that was the first beach I went to! Aww... I can not even describe the amazing feeling of walking on the beah in a sun dress, with the wind blowing, and the water laping at your feet, in DEC! It was so fun! After that we met up with their father and went down to get me signed up for Scuba Diving lessons. Yes, that's right, SCUBA DIVING! My first lesson is today. I am SO excited! I think it is going to be very cool! I can't wait to write about how it went.......

We decided to go into town to the biggest grocery store on the island (which is about the size of a very small grocery store in the US. But first we headed to lunch. We parked and walked quite a ways before finding a restraunt that was open on Sundays. The one we found was SO busy because it was one of the only ones open and it had shade. We waited forever for a table in the shade and then for lunch, but we kept our mind off how hot it was in the meantime by playing I-spy. One thing I forgot to mention eariler.... the Iguanas! They are absolutly every where and I am not kidding. You see them just running here, and there, and sitting in the branches of trees sunbathing. It is so funny! Yesterday while we were eating lunch a dude came by holding one showing it off. I am not kidding, it was the size of his arm!

Some parts of the town we where in where not so nice, others were ok. It defintly reminds me of pictures I have seen of mexico, but some of the buildings are alot more colorful, and parts of town are much prettier. They love to eat fried plantes here, which I have come to enjoy. They are so sweet though it is almost like desert! We stoped at a floating market which was so cool! It was sitting along the river, and people had little boats that were sitting behind the the stands, they just brought the fruits and vegtables up from the boats and sold them. There were flies everywhere and it did seem a bit dirty, but I love markets like that!

The grocery store was fun, they had basically the same food that ones at home do, just mixed with the local foods. I bought some weird hazelnut spread (kind of like nutella) That I hope to try today for lunch. Over all it was a fun, but VERY exasuting afternoon. We probally had walked over 4 miles at this point.
After getting home and unloading groceries, we decided to go snorkiling, before dinner. This is something I had never done, before, but I was very excited about it! The first minuted I got in the water and started swimming I was a little scared, we were just floating in the ocean and I had it felt very weird to be trusting my snorkel for air. But after a while I loved it! We didn't go to far out, just to some reefs off the coast, they we beautiful! I saw so many cool things I had never seen before in person, it was like a whole different world. We even spotted an ocopus whihc is an extremly rare thing! The ocopus was only about the size of two hands together. But very cool! I kept trying to dive, but I never really got to hang of blowing the water back out of the snokel, I ket inhaling first, or blowing it out of my nose, whcich got my mask filled with water and salt water down my throat. Over all, an exsperience of a life time! Defintily something to do if you get a chance!
So that was basically my day yesterday, this morning I am gettting some schoool done, but mainly just enjoying being here!

Airport

I am in Miami in the USO (Millitary lounge.) We left our house at 6 am this morning for the airport. I didn't go to bed till 12:30 last night, becuae I was packing! For the second time I got stopped at securtiy (same bag) and they had to do some type of test on it. I don't know what happens. They won't tell me, and I get it back in like 5 mins. I watch them take a wand with some type of pad on the end, then they stick the pad in a machine. Then when it beeps they let me go. I think it might be some type of test for drugs.... the first time I thought it was just random. But now that it happened again, I am thinking not. I had to go out of security to get to the USO so I am praying real hard that I have no problems at all getting back in! The airport was real quiet this morning, I had trouble finiding some good breakfast becuae alot of the restraunt were busy. But I ended up with a malt, sauge and a muffin.

The flight went well, no problems. But I swear that miami is the most confusing airport in the world! I printed off a map before hand, but that didn't really help that much. It is horrible! It is also not the nicest. But oh well, atleast I didn't have any problems. I did ask like 5 people where to go though, which is a first for me (at airports atleast.)

When I got ot the lounge it was filled with smoke and a very loud beeping was going off. I thought there was a fire and almost didn't go in, but he said come in. It was just something had burnt in the microwave. But BOY! Was the somke! You could barley see. Then the fire department arrived, but they just icnored us.

So I will try to write mroe later, but It is going wonderfully so far!

Thank you God, for all my blessings.

Wow. Wow. That is all I can say.
I have been blessed more then I can ever start to say thanks back to my heavenly Father. He is amazing. He knows my every need. My every thought. My every desire. And he gives me exactly what I really need. He loves me more then I can imagine. I am definitely thankful to Him! I am also thankful for my amazing parents. They have loved me, cared for me and raised me to know my Savior. My siblings are amazing. I have so much fun with them. Yes we do fight, but we also have the time of our lives together. My friends, my house, me photography, my precious ones (That is what I call the children I babysit.) All of these, and more then I can list, is what I'm thankful for. And I pray, that I will always and forever remember these things every single day.

I was trying to get a new picture for my profile. I wanted that had me and children, or me and my camera. So Here is what I got.... please tell me if you have a favorite!

My fav: Babies and Cameras!

Sweetest boy!

Such a happy baby!

Thanksfulness-

Thankfulness. This is a word that everyone is talking about this time of year. Even though Thanksgiving comes around once a year, we all are in such a rush to get to Christmas, many of us forget what Thanksgiving is all about. I think God made Thanksgiving for a many good reasons. (He has a great plans you know :)

I have been trying to continually think of things I am thankful for. God has blessed me so incredibly! This is very hard for me, not because I don't have enough to be thankful for, but because I forget alot of times to be thankful, and instead I sit around and complain, or wallow in self-pity :( I have started praying and asking God to remind me of things I am thankful for through out the day, so I can give my utmost thanks to Him, and praise Him for it!

So, today I am thankful for, My amazing family. Not only my wonderful parents and siblings but also my extended family I love so very much!

One last note, something else He has convicted me very much on lately is desiring other man's approval above His. He is my first true love and HE is the one I should desire most of all. Not man's money, approval or time. I realize this in my heart, but the truly hard thing for me is to translate this into my actions, especially around friends. But I have been praying, and I know if it is God's will he will give me His strength so I can!

I am very excited I am getting to take a trip to Curacao (an Island in South America,) in only one week! I can't wait!! I am going to even get my scuba diving license!

So sorry, I feel like I have deserting my blog :( But I have been doing a ton of photography! (and babysitting.) I made bread the other day, yum yum! It's honey oatmeal bread and I LOVE the recipie. I got it off allrecipies.com so if you like to make bread try it! It turned out a little dryer this time, I'm not to sure why, but I think it is because I let it rise a lot longer... hummm it was still very good! Everyone loved it when I shared it at co-op today.

Here is what it looks like after the oatmeal has soaked for an hour, and the yeast has been added.
This is after it has risen twice, and is now in the bread pan ready for the oven!
This is done... YUM!!!

Pumpkin and previews

So, as I said in my last couple of posts life is crazy, let me emphasize on the CRAZY! I have been trying to get so busy, I love having relaxing days at home, and I really want to have time just to play outside, play games and etc. Anyways, I am very much enjoying and discovering more about photography and photoshop every day. I did another photoshoot on Sunday, and I love the results. Here is a small preview:

Defintly not my favorite, but I am saving the best for last!
So besides photography and babysitting, I have been very much enjoying cooking, especially from scratch! I have been making bread (LOVE IT!) and I made homemade pumpkin (like from the actual thing pumpkin.) on Tuesday. I am going to make a pumpkin pie and see how the pumpkin turned out! I wish I had taken pictures of the process because even though it was exstensive, it was very fun!

Craziness

Ok so after a few slow months, both babysitting an photography are really taking off. I have been getting like two calls a day for babysitting, and I already have like 3 shoots booked for November (not counting the 3 I already did in Nov.) It is absolute craziness! (But you know I absolutly Love it.) I am just praying about not being TOO busy. I am doubting life will slow down too much in the next 50 years ;)

So now I am going to let you see the shoot I did today. The shoot I did the other day with the two little girls, had so many good pictures, so it is going to take me quite a while to photoshop them.

These boys were a ball of fun. We went down on the bay (of the potomic river) again. It was a blast, and not too cold. I had some trouble for the first time. It was a bright sunny day with aboslutly no clouds insite! This left me with shadows, shadows, everywhere, which really frustrated me. Needless to say, the pictures did not turn out as well as I had hoped, but the mother seemed to like them, and that is what counts!!

This is my second fav.

My first fav.
Love the backround
ditto.
Like the backround, not the pic.

LOVE

So something God has put recently on my mind latley- LOVE. This is a subject I could write for years about, but I will only be doing a few posts :)
My first thoughts- LOVE is not taken seriously today. People will say I love you, over and over to different people to the point where it doesn't mean anything anymore.

One thing I started thinking on is, hey God LOVED me enough that he gave His one and only son for me, so that I may be here writing this right now! Now you may have heard this over and over, you whole life. But when you really sit down and think about it is exdradonary. Let me ask you, How many people have given their lives for you, with you having not done ANYTHING to deserve it? That is TRUE LOVE.

But now, how can I seriously apply this to my life. I started thinking a praying about this. My first answer is to LOVE my family. Show them LOVE everyday. If once a day, I count to ten and think of the LOVE Christ gave me, instead of shouting or yelling and stomping off, I will soon have a changing life. Now I am not in anyway saying this is easy, or that I am perfect and I suceed at this all the time. No, in fact that is that reason I am working on it. But I can try, and only by the grace of God will I succeed at ONCE A DAY. Second thing, is to not judge. This is something God has been conviting me on for many years. I do judge. And it is a horrible thing. It can hurt people dearly, it can cause me to not make a friend. So God really hit me over the head this Monday night while we were at bible study. Here are 2 of the verses we read,

Gal 2:6 As for those who seemed to be important—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance—those men added nothing to my message.

And this has become one of my personal favorites: Acts 10:34-35 4Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism35but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.

So God does not give one stinken care about peoples race, looks or beauty. He is the one who died for these people? He knows them by name. Why under heaven should I ever sit there and Judge them? So since God hit me over the head, I have been praying that he help me show LOVE to everyone I meet. Not judge them first off, becuase hey, you never know, the person could be my new life long friend, and I will never know unless I accept them, for who they are. So my first chance trying this out is tomorrow at co-op. I am praying, and we will see.

So that is my first thoughts on LOVE. I know it's basic, but hey, it's LOVE!

It is way late and I need to go right to bed, but I thought I would post a sneak peek of a photoshoot I did of two incredibly cute little girls!

Beautiful family.

So I sent an e-mail advertizing my business over the homeschool group and I have been absolutly crazy sense! Here is a family I did this saturday. It was lightly raining when she picked me up. We did the first half of the shoot in sprinkiling rain, then it got harder and harder till there were pretty big drops coming down! (Not pouring, but raining hard.) So if you look at one of the last pictures, you will see the kids hair getting wetter and wetter :)

So this is my fav, they are just the cutest family!!

In this one their grandma is behind me making them laugh so they all have really cute faces!
I adore this one, even though I love doing poses I also love abstract-type portraits. SO alot of the time I do a mix. This one totally says to me LIFE. I mean really, look at it :)

Sorry

Hello everyone,
I am so sorry I have not been blogging in forever, I have a bunch of stuff I want to blog, but I have just been absolutly crazy, I hope to blog tomorrow, but for now please dwell on this verse:
For in Scripture it says:
"See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.
1 peter 2:7

Have a blessed night!
